“UPDATE:  The European Banking Authority extended the final deadline to 31st December 2020 for implementation of Secure Customer Authentication (SCA) for e-commerce card-based payment transactions.

This means online merchants have until this new deadline to migrate to a SCA ready payment solution in order to be compliant however, we strongly encourage merchants to make the necessary changes well before the deadline to avoid risk of disruption and provide sufficient time communicate properly with customers

What is PSD2
Getting your head around it...

eCAI advise on what you can do to ensure you are PSD2 Ready

PSD2 is the second of two Payment Services Directives from the European Commission, it regulates the provision of ‘payment services’ in Europe. PSD2 updates the EU rules set out in the Payment Services Directive adopted in 2007 (PSD), which provided the legal foundation for an EU single market for payments.  Read more….

1. Analyse your business

As the PSD2 Strong Customer Authentication regulations are quite complex, a critical first step is to ensure you have analysed your business to identify key things such as:

  • What are all the ways your customers can pay currently?
  • Where are your customers located?
  • How are your payments being handled today?

You’ll need this information to help you identify any changes you may need to make.

2. Contact your Payment Service Provider (PSP)
Once you’ve a good grasp of how you’re handling payments today you will need to work with your PSP or Payment Gateway and identify what solutions you may need to use to authenticate your payments. 3D Secure  is the new industry standard for card payment authentication.
